Left the house early this morning headed to Langley for studio supplies. Another soggy day which should have been dreary but turned out to be quite exquisite as we glided along the freeway enjoying the moody views of the country. The landscape groaned being well saturated from the rains which we heard splattering on our roof all night. There was something so exquisite about it all and Neville and I had a jolly good chat about my current challenges waiting at the studio for me. We came up with some very possible solutions hence my mood as we drove became more and more hopeful, so much so that I truly overspent once at the suppliers all because by now I was dripping with inspiration and excitement to get back home to create create create.......:-)
The above piece is a Pastel on trashy newsprint, but I love the smooth texture of the paper and it is cheap so I never need to care about expense and failure and then I am more relaxed in how I work and it really shows. I love pastel because it is spontaneous and I can simply spit out an idea and once it is frozen on paper or any other medium I can always take it further using other mediums or digitally altering it. This one was inspired by a chinese proverb I read which said" Flowers leave their fragrance on the hands that bestow them".
My Ponder for the day:
A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is the rain.
